WAY MARKED FAMILY CYCLE ROUTE 1

FAIRLY FLAT AND ON HARD SURFACES.

The route is approximately 2813 metres / 2.8 Kilometres / 3076 yards or 1.75 miles in length.

1     80607/86271    By directional signs just outside courtyard gates. Take the track straight in front for 390 metres to post

2     80738/85916    Outside “Margam Castle” play area. Keep on the same track for 211 metres to post

3     80792/85715    At cross paths junction. Continue straight on, down slope over railway track for 155 metres to post

4     80850/85579    Outside entrance to the new Field Study Centre. This section goes slightly uphill and then flattens out for 425 metres to post

5     81161/85380    At entrance to Twyn yr Hydd yard. Through wooded area for 75 metres to post

6     81205/85314    Contines through woodland and goes over a narrow bridge. Path narrows for 52 metres to post

7     81218/85291    At exit from woodland. Go straight on for 80 metres to post

8     81254/85204    Turn sharp left and go across for 65 metres to post 9 on large gates and cattle grid Use pedestrian gate

9     81296/85244    Go straight on for 75 metres to grass circle and post

10   81320/85316    Turn left and follow road for 475 metres to post

11   81166/85760    At this post you have and option of going straight on for 170 metres post 12 or turning right uphill to post

12    81066/85893    At junction of path coming across from left. Continue straight on for 640 metres, passing “GO APE, through gate, on to road junction, turn left and back to post 1.

Route 2A is approximately 3790 metres / 3.8 Kilometers / 4145 yards or 2.4 miles in length.

11A 81374/85889    Gradient gets steeper and after a further 105 metres you get to post

11B 81413/86005    Turn right across flat grassed section for130 metres to post

11C 81527/85985    Turn left back onto hard surface and proceed up steep section for 190 metres to post

11D 81518/86169    Turn left. You are now on route 4 of the National Cycle Way. Frome here back to Post 1 you are on hard surfaces. Proceed for 393 metres to post

11E 81179/86327    Continue straight on for 161 metres to post

11F 81028/86334    At this point the route spits into two. Take the left route for 120 metres to post

11H 80936/86296    The path now gets steeper and as it is under trees can get slippery. This path goes on for another 219 metres to post

11J 80758/86345    At this post turn left. Proceed for 183 metres through gate and back to post 1.

Route 2B is approximately 4106 metres / 4.1 Kilometres / 4490 yards or 2.6 miles in length.

11D 81518/86169 Turn left. You are now on route 4 of the National Cycle Way. Frome here back to Post 1 you are on hard surfaces. Proceed for 393 metres to post

11E 81179/86327 Continue straight on for 161 metres to post

11F 81028/86334 At this point the route spits into two. Take the right route for 406 metres to post 11G. A short distance along this section the route gets very steep downhill to a large Beech tree directly in front of you where you turn left.

11G 80780/86566 At this point you turn left and proceed slightly down hill for 250 meters to post

11J 80758/86345 Proceed straight on for 183 metres through gate and back to post 1.
